"Improving Life in Southeast Chicago"
SEDCom is bringing people and organizations together to embark on a community-wide project that will help people live longer lives by:
- Creating healthy physical and socioeconomic environments
- Increasing access and opportunity for individuals and families to choose healthy behaviors
- Improving existing health services and networks
- Facilitating policy and system changes through action at the grassroots level
SEDCom and its partners will achieve this through planning, implementation and evaluation of community-level interventions in the following areas:
- Education
- Research
- Capacity-Building and Sustainability
- Advocacy
Current project activity is focused on the planning phase. A working group, community organization assessment and inventory, and focus groups with community residents will provide SEDCOM with the necessary information to compile a community action plan that will guide project activities in the implementation phase.
